IPL 2020: KXIP vs MI Preview – Punjab, Mumbai eye return to winning ways

KL Rahul’s Kings XI Punjab and Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians will take on each other at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Match 13 of IPL 2020. Both teams are coming on the back of two extremely close losses, and both teams have won 1 and lost 2 games each. Rajasthan pulled off the highest chase in IPL history against Punjab, chasing a target of 224 with 4 wickets to spare. RCB defeated MI in a super over, after the scores were level at 201.

KXIP were on a roll in their previous game and were favourites to win until the 18th over of the innings. However, Tewatia played one of the most mind-blowing knocks one could ask for. KXIP’s batting has been magnificent this season, with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal on top of the run-scoring charts. However, they need to improve their death bowling.

They conceded 30 runs in an over twice in the past 3 games in the death overs. MI have done well with the bat, putting up good totals. However, they would want their star-batsman Quinton de Kock to come back to form. Their bowling also looked off-colour against RCB, barring leg-spinner Rahul Chahar.

Team News:

Kings XI Punjab:

KL Rahul would be hoping to not lose the momentum after the close loss against RR. There are glaring issues with death overs bowling which they need to sort out as soon as possible. Nicholas Pooran had one of the best saves at the boundary in the history of the league in this epic match, which shall be remembered for years to come. They could also consider giving young Afghan leg-spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman a go in this fixture at the expense of Neesham.

Mumbai Indians:

Rohit Sharma would be glad to see that his team put up such a strong show against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, experts were disappointed that Ishan Kishan did not walk in to bat in the super-over, considering he had the momentum with the bat at that time. MI would be hoping for the Pandya brothers to come back into form soon.
