Stuart Broad questions Virat Kohli’s choice of batting first
The third Test match between England and India is underway at Headingley. Skipper Virat Kohli won the first toss of the series and elected to bat first. However, England’s Stuart Broad, who has been ruled out of the series owing to an injury has termed Kohli’s call to bat first as a brave one.
India’s decision to take charge of the field with the bat first has quite not gone their way as of now. The team has had a terrible start, losing the key wickets. James Anderson has chimed into the scene to remove the top-order of the visitors early on.
Looking to drive it through the off side, KL Rahul edged it to the keeper and walked back to the hut for a duck. Pujara who has been struggling with a lean patch too was sent back, followed by the big wicket of Kohli. Broad thus feels that the pitch is the best to bowl on day one.
Taking it to Twitter, Broad questioned Kohli’s decision post the toss and also predicted the conditions of the pitch.
Huge hour for England! 3 big wickets. Brave call from India to bat first, it’s the best Day 1 ground to bowl at in the country IMO. Pitch will get better & better. Won’t be much in it for the seamers from Day 3 onwards- enough in it now!

About the match, by clinching crucial wickets in quick succession, the hosts have dominated the proceedings. In the first session, England outplayed India completely as the top order of the side crumbled. India walked into the third Test with the same winning combination. While on the other hand, the hosts are playing Dawid Malan and Craig Overton who have replaced Dom Sibley and Mark Wood respectively.
Stuart Broad misses out on the series due to a calf injury
Broad was ruled of the entire Test match series as he had to deal with a calf injury ahead of the second Test match at Lord’s. The England pacer underwent an MRI which revealed a tear. Broad, who is one of the most important assets of the side, would be all keen to recover at his earliest with the high octane Ashes series on cards.
